Guru Ravindra Nath Tagore's desire for a place where mind is held high led to the establishment of the Modern College of Education in the natural surroundings of Village Bir-Kalan, Distt. Sangrur, Punjab. The college was established in 2000 under the Registered of Societies Act (XXI) 1860, and was recognized for its B.Ed course in 2005. The college has a vast territory, including a large library, computer lab, college canteen, large playground, seminar room, green park, and 200-meter track.

Located at Sunam-Bhikhi Road in Village Bir-Kalan, Distt. Sangrur, the college offers a peaceful and pleasant atmosphere for the development of students. The college's grand and modern building features cross ventilation and light with generator facilities. The college is governed by the management committee of the Punjab Educational & Social Society, Cheema Distt Sangrur (Pb.), a registered body under the Society Registration Act (XXI) of 1860. The non-profit making body is guided by Punjab's famous Modern Secular Educational Society, Dhuri, known for its services in the field of education.

The institution is situated on Sunam - Bhikhi Road in the village of Birkalan, post office Cheema, Sangrur district, Punjab and its colleges are affiliated with Punjabi University, Patiala and approved by NCTE (New Delhi) and AICTE (New Delhi).
